"Motivation is unreliable. It comes just as fast as it goes"
My insight “motivation is unreliable. It comes just as fast as it goes” has been useful to me because I have been the unmotivated student/employee before. I came in motivated to learn my new career path and was excited to see where it would take me but lost it all to the lack of morale and unforeseen circumstances. I understand that there is a need to have a well-rounded and comprehensible program in place for those who may follow my path. There needs to be incentive in everything in life because sometimes motivation simply runs out.

Connection
Unknowingly, I learned this early on in my college career. In the freshman composition for engineers course (EEGR 104) I specifically remember the professor saying "look to your left, now look to your right. One of you won't finish this program". Arrogance took over and i was sure it wouldn't be me, but at the age of 17 I hadn't considered life to could take unexpected turns. Engineering is about problem solving, without this professors words I wouldn't be able to retool and come back to school with more than motivation to get me through.

Vision
There is a certain unpredictability to motivation. It can provide a spark to get you going but it can be very inconsistent and can not be relied upon for long term goals.
